Neither of them spoke during the journey home, and Jorja sensed that George was still mad. She knew that once they got home the fighting would start, she could just feel it...and she was dreading it. This was their first big fight, and she knew that with her hormones flying about all over the place, there was probably going to be more regarding the baby. When they pulled up, Jorja got out of the car and, without a word, headed up to the house, letting herself in and heading straight for the kitchen. If they were going to have it out, she needed coffee first.

George walked in, trying to shut the door gently behind him, but it didn't work.
He saw Jorja walk straight into the kitchen and knew exactly what it was for.
"You should cut down on coffee as well, you don't know what our baby is allergic to." He emphasized the word 'our', trying to make a point.

Biting her lip, Jorja took a deep breath to keep from saying something cuttingly sarcastic. Choosing to let the comment, and his earlier one that still got to her, pass over her head, she poured herself the coffee and went into the den, dropping down on the sofa and flicking on the TV. She was going to be stubborn, she'd decided. It would piss him off sure, but she was going to get the point across that even though it was their baby, she was the one carrying it, the one who'd go through all the pain of giving birth to it, so she was the one who would have the final decision as to when she'd go on maternity leave.

George was rather unsure on what to do. He knew for sure that this wasn't gonna get sorted out without an arguement, but Jorja was seeming unwilling to get it over with. If they just didn't talk, it would never get sorted out! He didn't want to blatently start the arguement, but he was not gonna back down. "George Eads does not back down" George thought, walking around uneasily.
He knew he had to say something to get the conversation going.
"This is my baby as well you know!" he said, with his tone raised.

"And I'm the one who's carrying it. You're not gonna have to give birth to it George, just remember that." Jorja replied, absently keeping her eyes on the TV screen but not really concentrating on what the program was. "I'll finish work when I'm good and ready, you've gotta get used to that. I love you, and I love this baby, but you know I won't have anyone telling me what I can and can't do."

"The only thing you seem bothered about is your job. Or yourself, i'm not sure which. You're just trying to look good staying at work for as long as possible. He stated, walking over to the chair.
"Are you actually thinking about what staying at work for a long time will do to the baby? If you want to harm yourself then there's nothing I can do about that. You don't belong to me and I know that. But just because you are carrying the baby, it doesn't make it anymore yours as it is mine. So if you harm the baby, it is our baby you are harming. I think I should have a say on what happens to our child, Jorja"
He took a deep breath, after finishing his speech, and waited for an answer. It seemed like hours.

She looked up at him. "I'm not gonna harm myself George - or our child. And I'm not staying at work for other people's approval. You know how much I love the job. I'll make a deal with you. I'll go on maternity leave when it gets hard for me okay? Face it, you didn't even realize I was pregnant until I told you, and look at me! Making me quit work so early is like punishing me George..." All her focus of staring at the TV had gone and she was now looking at him, a weary look on her face and one hand on her bump. Yeah, she was looking forwar to being a mom, but she was dreading his over-protectiveness that was only going to intensify once she got further along in the pregnancy.

"Jorja, that is the biggest load of crap i've ever heard! Punishing you! If I wanted to punish you then, believe me, there's other ways to do it. If worrying about yours and the babys health is punishing you then, well, i don't know!"
He couldn't believe Jorja thought it was a punishment.
"I'm gonna be a Daddy!! Why would I try and punish you for that?!" he cried "Jorja, you say you will stop when it starts to harm you. But the thing is, you don't know when it's going to harm you until it's happened. And you certainly don't know when it's harmed the baby until we have the next check-up which are usually months apart! Just trust me on this, I know what I'm talking about. You might not believe me, but I do."
He was trying to be as reassuring as possible, but he wasn't sure she would trust him on what he was saying. He was talking sense, though.

She stood up, a little red in the face with irritation. "George, I'm not talking crap - I get what your saying but really, I can look after myself and this baby. You seem to think I'm not able to do that. I'm a grown-woman!" She needed to cool off now, before she said something she'd regret.

"Yeah, well you're not acting like one!" he screamed at her, stomping into their bedroom and slamming the door.
A few seconds later, when he had thought of something else to say, he opened the door and stuck only his head out and shouted "Face it..."love"... you have no idea what you are talking about. You'll regret it."
He slammed the door again. He decided that was a good end of the arguement for him. He had had his say.
